Why do we refer to Good Friday as "good" when it commemorates such a dark and bleak event—specifically, the suffering and death of Jesus? On Good Friday, we remember the day when Jesus willingly endured crucifixion as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins (1 John 1:10). This year's Good Friday service will be titled "Apply the Pressure." Because of what Christ accomplished on the cross, we can stand firm against opposition and emerge victorious.

The theme is highly relevant because the suffering and death of Jesus, as terrible as it was, marked the dramatic culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins.
